What is Lobbying?

Lobbying is the practice by professionals who advocate on behalf of individuals, companies, trade organizations, or special interest groups to governmental bodies for the purpose of affecting the outcome of specific legislation. Groups, companies, and individuals will hire lobbyists not only for their experience in the area they’ll be advocating, but also to take advantage of the relationships with Government Officials already established by the lobbyist.
